Robinvale saw high participation rates across a range of services and activities in 2024. It had strong playgroup participation in targeted, supported and community-wide playgroup sessions. Parents surveyed at Robinvale show high levels of confidence with 73% stating that they are extremely or very confident to help their children to learn. Robinvale’s onsite governance group remains robust with partners agreeing that governance meetings have a clear purpose, that the governance group has a clear vision, and that there is a shared commitment to achieving this vision by partners.

  • School attendance: An Attendance Working Group has been established including representatives from the local community and service providers. Students have shared their perspective on attendance challenges directly with the group to inform action planning.
  • Engagement and enrichment: New approaches have been implemented to reach families who do not usually engage in the school, such as craft sessions and online gatherings.
  • Adult engagement: The Language Café, funded by the Department of Job, Skills, Industries and Regions (DJSIR), continues to provide a strong pathway for engaging adults and introducing them to services, such as employment, drivers’ licenses and Working with Children Checks.
  • Adult training: The local multicultural provider is delivering a DJSIR-funded pre-accreditation Early Childhood Education and Care course onsite, with 13 parents and community members participating. With Our Place support, the Robinvale College refurbished 9 unused computers that were offered to course participants to enable them to progress to Certificate 3.
  • Access to new services: Robinvale College is in negotiation with the local health service to secure Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy services onsite.
  • School attendance: The local Attendance Working Group has co-designed a range of strategies to address long term attendance challenges for children, families and the school. Our Place will work with local partners to support implementation of these actions and to monitor their effectiveness.
  • Early Years careers: Our Place is working with prospective partners across the state to identify training pathways for parents and carers who wish to become qualified early years workers, addressing an urgent need for additional staff in the community.
  • Continuity of Learning: Following an initial trail in 2024, Our Place staff will support families from across the Robinvale Euston community to prepare their children for school and to build enriching home learning environments.
  • Service coordination: A diverse range of support services are available locally on an intermittent basis, which reduces the level of coordination between staff and makes navigation difficult for families. Our Place will work with partners to strengthen service coordination and accessibility across the community.
  • Early Years advocacy: Site Partners will work together to advocate for increased early years services in the Robinvale Euston community, including possible expansion of early years services at Robinvale College.
